This is officially the first time Maximumrockandroll has ever said anything nice about me. Finally all that street cred pays off! I’m gonna go buy a boat!
I’m 2 for 2 so far this year in doing the art on really odd things for bands I love. Here is the first example: I designed a beer tap handle for Bomb the Music Industry. What? Yeah.
Pictured top is the full drawing, and then below is the tap handle itself. I actually think Jeff recropped the official final thing and so it’s gonna come out differently than the one pictured, but the only version of the recropped I’ve seen is on a text on my phone, so I’m just gonna go ahead and show you my original layout.
The tap handle is, as I understand it, going to top a keg of some kinda special BTMI beer to be served at the band’s ten thousandth “final” show. Sounds fun! To think, I’ve been angling to do some art for a microbrewery for years now, and finally get to do my first one a week and a half after I quit drinking. Insanity abounds.
Anyhow! BTMI are the best and Jeff is a rad dude and beer is still a fun choice for people with more self control than me, so this was a great project to help kick off the new year with.
I’ll follow up with the first odd thing I was asked to design for a band I dig soon!
Alright, kids! Amanda and I are doing portraits again for a super limited time. NOTE: This may be obvious, but there isn't enough time to be able to get these out to you before Christmas, so please don't assume we will!
- HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
I'll draw as many people per portrait as you want, it's $10 per face. So, for instance, if you want a drawing of just you, it's $10. If you want you and your girlfriend, it's $20. If you want you and your girlfriend AND your kid, it's $30. Make sense?
If you want, Amanda will paint your portrait with a black and white inkwash (a la My Stupid Life, etc) for an extra $10 total. (Keep in mind that extra cost is per portrait, NOT per person. If your portrait has five people in it, it's still just an extra ten for her to paint it, not an extra fifty.) (Also note that WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ORDERS FOR COLOR WATERCOLORS. That shit ended up being so time consuming that there was just no fair price for us to charge that would make it worth while on Amanda's end. We;re still offering the black and white watercolors because they're less time-consuming and, in my opinion, they make the portraits look a thousand times better for very little extra money. The color portraits will be removed from this page soon, sorry if those caused any confusion).
And, if you want, I'll mail you the original drawing for an extra $5. (Meaning, if you want, I can just send you a digital file of the drawing, but, if you want the original to hang up or frame or burn in effigy, add five bucks for shipping) (NOTE: No extra charge for overseas shipping, but do keep in mind that shipping overseas from the USA will usually take a couple extra weeks)
HOW TO ORDER
STEP ONE: EMAIL ME
I need you to email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) and include ALL THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
1) Send me a CLEAR picture (or pictures) of the FACE(s) of whoever you want drawn however you want them to look.
2) Tell me the name(s) of everyone you want drawn (and specify who is who in the photo reference)
3) Sum up what you want. Do you want it painted, Y/N? Do you want the piece mailed to you, Y/N?
4) If you want the piece mailed to you, tell me your mailing address
STEP TWO: PAY ME
1) Add up your total:
The price is $10 per face
add $10 if you want it painted BLACK AND WHITE
(color is no longer available)
add $5 if you want it shipped to you (U.S. or overseas, same price)
2) Once you have your total, send a payment via PayPal to email@example.com
3) In the PayPal notes, please tell me whose portrait this payment is for so I can match it up to your email.
STEP THREE: WAIT PATIENTLY
Expect it to take up to three weeks for me to email you your portrait. If you requested a physical copy in the mail, it should be shipped about the same time you get an email from me with the digital file, so at that point figure an extra week or so for the post office to get them to you.
NOTE: Here are a couple FAQs answered: 1) You do not need to email and ask if we're still doing these. If you can read this page right now, yes, we are still doing portraits. I'll take this page down when they're no longer for sale. Go ahead and send your request and your payment at the same time. If you just send a request and no payment, I'm not gonna draw your thing. 2) Yes I'll draw your pet with you, but fair warning, I suck at drawing animals.

Lemuria asked me to design them a shirt that looked like the cover of Thin Lizzy’s Jailbreak LP for them to sell at Fest 12. So I did! And this is what it looks like. So, you know, if you’re going to Fest, you know what to do.

HEY KIDS! Looks like all your favorite punk rock cartoonists are sharing a table at SPX this year!
Yes sir/madam/other, come say hi to ME (MITCH CLEM), NATION OF AMANDA, LIZ PRINCE, and RAMSEY BEYER at SPX, September 14th AND 15TH (my birthday!) at the Mariott in West Bethesda, Maryland (just outside Washington DC).
First person to bring me a whole pineapple gets whatever they want off my part of the table for free. PINEAPPLE PUNX 2013!
The University of Texas at Austin's student-run newspaper did an interview with me last March. Keep in mind, I am more or less a totally uninteresting, rambling idiot, BUT, if you're the type who goes for that sort of thing, you can read the interview online. Cheers!
Here’s a shirt design I did for the band Fake Problems about five million years ago. It is, to this day, probably the only good shirt design I’ve ever made. Except I shoulda signed it. So anyone would ever have known it was me. Ho hum.
